Halloween Party!

Happy Halloween!

Last week was our Halloween party. Since we live in Logan and it's hard for us to come down on a weekday, Cathie was nice enough to throw her Halloween party on Saturday. She throws one every year where we all dress up and have a costume contest, pumpkin carving contest, and play a couple of games. It was a lot of fun this year! Even though Ryan and I didn't win the costume or pumpkin carving contest :( I did win the guessing game, so that was fun :) Cathie was a witch who made a yummy witches brew! Ryan and I were pigs, thanks to my sister Tawnya. (She and Chaz made these fun pig costumes and were nice enough to let us borrow them) Mark was a pirate, TJ was a zombie (who actually won the costume contest) and Tyler was a transformer! After voting for the best costume and winning the guessing game :) We started to carve our pumpkins. Now, I've never used the tracing paper designs you find out of a book - (or whatever they are) I always try and be a little creative and do one from scratch. That probably explains why I've never won a pumpkin carving contest. I think I'm running out of ideas.
TJ was nice enough to help Tyler with his pumpkin, they carved a SCARY face! Then Mark was helping TJ carve a vampire! Stephanie won with her pirate pumpkin, while I didn't get one vote with my sick candy corn HA ha!Ryan got a couple votes for his flying horseman, and Mark wanted to be creative too and think of something from scratch- he got one vote for his Sponge Bob. All in all, the Halloween party was a hit! I'm so glad I have such a fun mother-in-law who is up for throwing parties whenever! It's so fun to get dressed up for Halloween and this is the only time we get to. So, thanks Cathie for such a fun Party- can't wait 'til the next one!

Sweet 'n' Simple

So, I just wanted to make a quick post and let everyone know about my business I'm starting. I'm trying to start a business called "Sweet 'n' Simple" where I make and sell crafts. I have a website/blog that you can take a look at http://sweetandsimpleshop.blogspot.com/ I'm still trying to get it all up and running, but you can send me an e-mail with your order if you would like me to make anything. I also think it'd be fun to throw a craft party where you could either buy or order crafts, if anyone is interested in getting some family and friends together to do that, just let me know. Ideally, I would like to start my own little shop up here in Bear Lake, but I just want to make sure I can get some business first. So, take a look and let me know what you think. Also feel free to e-mail me if you want anything!

Halloween Weekend

Last weekend was our traditional Halloween party with our friends at Bear Lake. We all stay at my parents cabin, carve pumpkins, play the dare game and watch a scary movie. This year was probably one of the best years ever! We had almost all of our friends there and had so much fun! Friday night we all played the game "things". After all laughing our heads off, some of the guys played poker while the rest of ous watched the movie SAW on Melissa and Brad Elders new "clearplay" DVD player. Most of us don't watch 'R' rated movies and can never find a good PG-13 movie that is acutally scary, so Brad and Melissa were nice enough to bring their DVD player that edits movies. So we got a couple of scary movies and just watched them in the clearplay so they were edited :) After that, most went to bed while others stayed up scaring everyone. The next night we carved pumpkins and played the dare game. We always try and have a little contest who can think of the most creative pumpkin. I thought Ryan's was pretty cool. He carved a fish with a hook coming out of his mouth, as you can see in the slide show, but we forgot to vote on whose we liked best. After a few pictures we started the Dare Game. This is a game where we all think of a dare, then you lay out a deck of cards face down on the table all spread out. You go around the table one by one and every picks up a card. Whoever draws the Ace of Spayed has to do the dare. Some of the dares were; walk through the graveyard alone, jump in Bear Lake, and eat a dead fly. Luckily niether Ryan or I got the Ace but others weren't as fortunate. The two I did not want to get was jumping in Bear Lake- poor Melissa H. had to do that. As bad as I felt I had to get a picture of her walking into the lake. She looks like she's walking to her death Ha ha! I also did NOT want to walk through that scary graveyard, luckily Jordan had to do that, who acted like he didn't even care . . . 'til his car wouldn't start after! Of all places, his battery dies at the graveyard. He said he must have accidentally walked on somones grave.

Sunday everyone went home and back to work and school the next day but me. My weekend wasn't over yet. I was going to St. George with my mother-in-law Cathie for the second time to see my cousin in a play. This time we went and saw "My Fair Lady" and my cousin Jenny played Eliza Doolittle. It was SO good! We both loved it. But sadly enough I forgot to take pictures! So here is the only picture I got, which I almost peed my pants taking I was laughing so hard. We are such dorks, but we sure do have a lot of fun together! Thank you Cathie for such a fun trip!

See ya in Two Years!

As most of you know, Tanner left for his mission last Wednesday. Ryan and I went down to SLC Tuesday and night to see him get set apart and spend some more time with him before he left. The next morning my dad took the family to breakfast at the Little America which was very nice and really good. My dad said he's never heard Tanner talk so much in his life. I think he was really excited.

After breakfast we all met at the MTC. We tried taking a few pics before we went in- but as most of you know, trying to get a picture of Tanner is like pulling teeth! He's usually either doing a funny face or isn't smiling. So here is a pic of everyone that could make it to the MTC.

G. Walker, Marc, Terra, Ty, Whit, Tanner, Tawn, Chaz, Teneil, Me & Ry

I know he doesn't look excited, but he was. He practically ran from the chapel after he hugged everyone, didn't even shed a tear. My mom and dad say he's thrilled to get away from our family for 2 years. Ha ha! He'll do great, I'm gonna miss him a lot but I'm really proud of him for going.

Our Every Day Drive

As most of you know, Ryan and I live in Logan, but have to make the 45 minute drive every day through Logan Canyon to get to work which is in Garden City/Bear Lake. There are plus and minuses about this drive, but since the seasons have started to change, we've noticed another plus.

I've always thought this canyon was beautiful, but I had never driven it in the fall. It is really amazing. All the trees have changed to their fall colors and look so pretty! Instead of dreading the drive, Ryan and I have actually been enjoying it more now that it is so colorful.

These are pictures I took while driving, so you can see what a sight it is from only your car. Ryan and I have been wanting to go on a hike or something so we can see even more. There is also a really cool stream/river that runs down the whole canyon along side the road that you have a nice view of.

Then there is the occasional cow we will run into. (not literally) But, we probably would if they were as fast as deer, which we've seen, as well as moose and all other kinds of wildlife. We've seen it all, both dead and alive :(

Then there is my favorite part of the drive. Seeing the animal which I had never actually seen alive 'til one of these drives. The turkey! I don't know why I get such a kick out of it, but one september morning we were driving to work, and Ryan pointed out a turkey on the side of the road, I thought it was so random and funny! Then the next day we tried to look for him again and there was a whole heard of them! All out for their morning meal, so I had to snap off these pics and post them. I mean you could probably get out of your car and go grab one, they were just out in the open.

The next day Ryan and I were running late and I guess we missed feeding time. I swear they are only out there at like 8:00 sharp. It really is so funny!

Another thing that is also pretty cool about our drive to work is we sometimes get to see the sunrise (if we're on time) and once the sun is out it gives the lake this cool sparkle look. My camera didn't take the picture too well, but I thought I'd post it anyway.

So, I guess there isn't whole lot more I can tell you about our every day drive, other than Ryan always drives or else he will get car sick and I'm usually dead asleep on the way back, but it's kinda nice to have that drive just to talk and listen to music- even though I guess we could that all day at work... Here are some more pictures, I thought were pretty neat. Enjoy!

I thought his picture was pretty cool with the lake, blue sky and the dark storm clouds just above.
