Weekend With Friends

This last weekend was our summer friends trip. Now that we are all married- (well, almost all) our friends like to try and get together at least once a summer and go on a trip somewhere. This year we thought it'd be fun to go on a camping trip to Bloomington Lake. We all met at Bear Lake Friday night, and packed all of our stuff up Saturday morning for the hour drive to Bloomington. Well, come to find out, Bloomington Lake was closed. I guess a 17-year-old boy drown on Thursday and they still hadn't found the body. We had mixed emotions. We were so dissapointed that we couldn't go through with our trip as planned- yet also sad that someone had drown, but leaving with a little relief that it wasn't one of us. We finally decided that since we were all prepared to go swimming and camping anyways, we may as well do it. So we went to the lake and spent some time there kayaking and swimming. Then drove to our usual camping spot at Temple Flats and set up camp there. Luckily it wasn't raining when we set up camp, but started sprinkling during dinner, and coming down pretty hard afterwards. We tried not to let it ruin our camping trip though and still roasted smores, told scary stories, and played games. We ended up taking it into the tent when it really started coming down, and it only seemed to get worse after that. After we had all gone to bed a few of us were woken up by one of the biggest storms I've ever seen/heard. The lightening was so bright it seemed like it was right outside our tent, and the thunder came only a few seconds after, which was loud enough to wake up anyone, but some were lucky enough to sleep through it. The rain just conitnued to come down harder and harder 'til I thought our tent would flood. It sounded like someone was pouring buckets of water on our tent. But lucky for us, our tent held up really good and we didn't get wet at all - the other tent wasn't so fortunate. The next morning the rain had stopped and the sun had come out, so it was a little soggy cleaning up, but we were happy it wasn't raining. In the end, our trip turned out to be rather fun and by the end, we were all planning a winter trip and a summer trip for next year. Here are some pictures of our fun weekend with friends.

. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . Me and Melissa out on the Kayaks . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . Ty, Whitney, Me, Ryan, Dave, Kate, Kelly, Melissa, Craig and NickelleI just wanted to say how grateful I am for our friends. I didn't have very many friends in high school, and since it's been over all of my old friends have gone their separate ways. Ryan has always stayed really close with his friends and I am so grateful for that. They have become a part of mine and Ryan's lives and I don't know what I'd do without them. I've made such good friend's with their wives and am so glad we all get along so great. I hope when we are old and retired we will still be planning our friends trip for the summer. Thanks for being such great friends! We love you!

It looks like you had tons of fun, even though it rained really hard on night. Sad that one of the tents flooded. That is such a fun idea to plan a summer friends trip each year.
