Camping Trip to Paint Rocks

Last weekend we took a camping trip to one of Ryan's favorite places, Paint Rocks. It's it the Big Horn mountains in Wyoming and it is so beautiful up there! It's been a Goodrich tradition for... I think his Grandpa was saying 65 years? Ryan's Great Grandpa took his Grandpa, and his Grandpa took his Dad, and his Dad took him, and now Ryan is taking Sara. Even though it's an 8 hour drive, Ryan has always thought it's been worth it. It really is a sweet place with a bunch of lakes (one of which you can see right from your campsite) and creeks where Ryan spends most of his day fishing. The fishing is great! He literally casts his pole and pulls out a fish, throws it back, casts his pole and pulls out a fish. They weren't the biggest fish around, but he probably caught close to a hundred of them. It was awesome!I honestly couldn't decide who was loving it more- Ryan, Sara or Chief. They were all in 7th Heaven up there. It really was so much fun just hanging by the fire, playing cards, fishing, and swimming. Ryan, Sara and I didn't really have a desire to get in the freezing cold lake, but TJ and Riley took a swim and Chief wasn't afraid to join them! He would have swam across the lake if we'd let him.As much as I love all vacations, there's just something about camping that is so nice, just being "away from it all". No TV, no phones, no computers, no worries! It's also nice being able to take your dog instead of having to pay for him to stay at Camp Barkalot. We went with Ryan's parents and two brothers Riley and TJ. This was the only picture I got of everyone, I wanted to get another good one by the lake but it never ended up working out. I'm so glad Sara loves the outdoors as much as Ryan and I do. She was also loving the fish Ryan was catching. When we were in Bear Lake a couple weeks ago, my nephews Kasin and Hunter caught a Carp and threw it on the beach. Sara was loving it! She was just so perturbed she couldn't pick it up and hold it and walk around with it. So, this time- Ryan caught her a little fish that was just her size for her to hold. She really didn't put it down all night, as you can see in this video, she was pretty excited about it. She is so funny!

So we finally got our trip to Paint Rocks. It used to be a yearly tradition, but we've missed the last couple years, so we're hoping to start it back up again.

Yes- that is the fish in Sara's hand. She couldn't get enough of it.
