May 27, 2011 * Lia Lyn Goodrich * 8 lbs. 1 oz.She's here! Baby Lia is finally here and has made us a proud family of five! She decided she was ready to join us and put me into labor while we were at the play Les Mis in Salt Lake. I distinctly remember my contractions started during the song "Master of the House" They were moderately strong so I decided to start timing them. They were only about 8-10 minutes apart and not too too painful, so I assumed it was just false labor and enjoyed the rest of the play. Well, we stood up to give a standing ovation and I had a hard time standing. Once that contraction was over I was able to make it outside and walk to the car, but was still having a hard time during each contraction. We got to the car and I thought maybe once I sat down again I'd be okay, but boy was I wrong. They started coming on strong and hard every four minutes. We really didn't want to drive all the way to Ogden and leave our girls in Salt Lake just to have them tell us it was false labor and send us home. So, after a call to my sister Tawnya (who's a labor and delivery nurse) and a little prayer to see if I was in true labor, we knew it was time to go.
My last labor with Della was so fast that we were a little worried about getting to the hospital in time and of course we were driving north during rush hour traffic, so Ryan drove on the shoulder a couple times so we weren't stuck for too long. I was hating it the whole way up, my contractions kept getting worse and worse. We got to the hospital got checked in, and I was surprised when they told me I was only a three! But, that was also good news 'cause it meant I'd get the medicine in time. It was the weirdest thing, 'cause as soon as I got in a gown and in a bed, my contractions slowed way down and didn't hurt bad at all! So, they called the doctor and he admitted me. They got the antibiotics started and got me settled in a room and it was time to wait. Luckily we got the full dose of antibiotics, got the epidural and it was time to deliver!Just a push or two and she was here! Our precious baby Lia. She was so perfect! We were in love the minute we laid eyes on her. By that time it was 1:30 in the morning, so we spent a little alone time just me, Ryan and Lia before we headed into recovery. We watched her get her first bath and by that time, all three of us were pooped and ready for bed. The next morning Ryan brought the girls up to meet their sister for the first time. Sara couldn't get the smile off her face. She was so SO excited and wanted to hold Lia the whole time. Della on the other hand... didn't really care. She'd look at her for a minute and say "baby" but seemed more confused than anything. It really was so fun and exciting to bring this little girl into the world. I can't believe we have three girls! We love them all so so much and are so grateful they were sent to us. I don't know what I'd do without them, and am so grateful for such a loving and supporting husband. He really is the best Dad to our girls, no wonder they're all Daddy's girls. Maybe, just maybe Lia will be a Mommy's girl?? Yeah right, he'll have her sucked in as soon as she's done nursing, but I'm glad they love their dad as much as I do

Welcome to the world baby Lia! We sure are glad you're here!
